Best Paintball inMichigan
2025 nominees for the best paintball venue in Michigan in the annual Paintball Award.
Michigan has paintball for every kind of player, from the oldest field in the state to a floodlit park with glow-in-the-dark games. Here is what we could confirm.
LONE WOLF PAINTBALL
Lone Wolf Paintball’s outdoor field sits at 4099 South Lapeer Rd in Metamora, about a quarter mile south of Dryden Road and reachable from exit 81 off I-75. It started as Forbidden Zone in 1982 and Lone Wolf took it over in 1990, which makes it the oldest paintball field in the state. The grounds run to more than 40 acres of challenging terrain.
Open play is Saturday and Sunday, 11am to 6pm from April through October and 11am to 5pm in November. They are closed December through March. Registration opens 30 minutes early and closes two hours before closing. Rental packages start at $30, and if you bring your own gear it is $20 for playtime and air (members play free). Paint runs from $7 for 100 rounds up to $75 for 2,000, and all open play players have to use paint bought from Lone Wolf, regardless of whether they bring their own equipment. No reservation is required, and referees sort players into teams by experience. Call 1-800-875-9653.
TC PAINTBALL
TC Paintball runs two parks. In the Grand Rapids area, the park at 2070 Waldorf St NW in Walker is open year round with indoor and outdoor fields and a pro shop, and reservations in advance are required. They have Gelly Ball for ages 6 and up, low impact for ages 8 and up, standard paintball for ages 10 and up, and Friday night Random Draw League Nights at 6pm. Call 616-249-8227.
Up north, the outdoor park is at 8257 N 1 Rd in Copemish, with the shop at 1825 M-37 S in Traverse City. Open play is Sundays from noon to 5pm at the Copemish field, with no reservation required. Shop hours are Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 8pm and Sunday 11am to 5pm, closed Mondays. Call 231-943-0248. Both locations do birthday parties, bachelor parties and group events.
NIGHT OPS PAINTBALL
Night Ops Paintball at 1445 E Parnall Rd in Jackson is a fully lit outdoor park, so the action keeps going after dark. Local TV coverage described four fields on three acres, including an AstroTurf speedball field with playing area of 75 by 225 feet. They say their cosmic glow-in-the-dark paintball was a first for Michigan.
Open play is Saturday 3pm to 8pm (cosmic open play 8pm to 10pm) and Sunday noon to 5pm. Standard and cosmic paintball are for ages 10 and up, and gelly blasters start at age 6. Rentals are available, beginners are welcome, and you can sign your waiver online to skip the line. Call 517-888-3397.
